New contract marks latest win for AECOM and Rejlers to deliver strategic upgrades to Sweden’s transport system
STOCKHOLM (April 7, 2025) — AECOM, the global infrastructure leader, and its partner Rejlers, today announced they have secured a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration for the development of the Southeast Link, a strategic investment to strengthen the railway network in southern Sweden.
AECOM will collaborate with Rejlers in the design of a new passing track on the Blekinge coastal railway between Olofström and Mörrum in Karlshamn municipality. The new passing track will increase capacity on the current single-track section of the route between Kristianstad and Karlskrona, which is an important link with connections to both Malmö and Copenhagen. The project is a central part of the Swedish Transport Administration’s work to create a more flexible and reliable transport system for both freight and passenger traffic.
“With this latest win, we continue to strengthen our collaboration with Trafikverket and our contribution to long-term sustainable infrastructure solutions in Sweden,” says Martin Ålenius, Business Development Manager at AECOM in Sweden. “This is an important step in the continued growth of AECOM in the Swedish market, and we look forward to contributing to the development of the Southeast Link together with Rejlers. By combining our global expertise with local knowledge, we are committed to delivering innovative, resilient and sustainable transport solutions to support Sweden’s future mobility needs.”
“We are proud to be able to contribute to the development of Swedish railway infrastructure through this strategically important project. The Southeast Link is an important part of the sustainable transport solutions of the future, and we look forward to delivering high-quality solutions that contribute to a robust and modern rail link,” says Hamzeh Hassoun and Albin Holmberg, Business Area Managers for Rail at Rejlers.
This contract is the latest win for AECOM in partnership with Rejlers, with both companies also appointed to support Trafikverket on the North Bothnia Line.
