AECOM appointed to major National Grid design and project services framework

Appointment means AECOM can now support National Grid across the full project lifecycle

LONDON (July 11, 2022) — AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, today announced that it has been appointed to National Grid’s Design and Project Services Framework. AECOM has been appointed to all seven lots it bid for on the framework which has been indicated to be worth £180 million, bringing its HV substation, cable and HVDC experience in addition to infrastructure project and programme management expertise.

The lots cover areas including civil engineering, design services and project management services and the framework lasts for four years with possible extensions. The work undertaken through the framework will support National Grid in its RIIO-2 business plan to deliver an affordable, resilient and reliable, and increasingly sustainable energy supply.

AECOM Framework Manager and Regional Director Eloise John said: “The prospect of bringing together all of AECOM’s multi-disciplinary project and technical expertise to support the delivery of National Grid’s vision for its low carbon transformation is really exciting.

“We are looking forward to working collaboratively with National Grid to support it in achieving sustainable, resilient and value driven solutions.”

This is AECOM’s second major National Grid framework appointment. In 2020 AECOM was appointed to National Grid’s Environmental Services Framework and has since supported projects including Eastern Green Link 1 and 2.

Nikola Gargov, Practice Director for Transmission and Distribution UK&I at AECOM said: “AECOM is delighted to be offered a chance to support National Grid enabling the UK’s energy transition to a lower carbon and more sustainable future. Being appointed to these two major frameworks now means that we can support the delivery across the full project lifecycle for National Grid.”
