Environmental Investigation, Department of Defence

AECOM undertook one of the largest multidisciplinary contamination investigations in Australia to date as part of Defence’s National PFAS Investigation and Management Program.

Human health and ecological risk assessments were undertaken to quantitatively assess the potential risks to identified human and ecological receptors from PFAS impacted soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, terrestrial biota and aquatic biota. The project was delivered on behalf of Defence within extremely tight timelines and involved complex stakeholder engagement with the community, EPA (and expert panels formed in response to the contamination), and accredited Site Auditor.
