We support our people to be their best technically and professionally through layered development programs, helping them advance no matter where they are in their careers.

Wastewater engineer

Stefanie Massey

“AECOM supports me to be successful in my job and in my personal life. I’ve been able to progress my career and lead technically complex projects while still being present for my family.”

Stefanie is a process mechanical engineer and project manager focused on wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and lift station rehabilitation. Since starting her career as an intern at AECOM 15 years ago, she has served as a people manager, lead verifier and technical auditor on technically challenging projects, all while raising her family.

Tunneling lead

Giuseppe Gaspari

“The opportunities at AECOM to combine my two passions — lifelong learning and designing complex underground structures — are unrivalled in the industry.”

Giuseppe is making his mark on several tunneling projects, his favorite being the Pawtucket Tunnel Combined Sewer Overflow in Rhode Island, U.S. The 3.5 kilometer-long, 8 meter-wide tunnel will store excess water during a storm event before it can be pumped out and treated, resulting in cleaner discharged water.

Water resources team leader

Nicky Lee

“Look for opportunities to try something new and challenging. One of the benefits of working at AECOM is the diverse range of career paths and interesting projects.”

Nicky leads the Melbourne water resources team. Her technical focus areas include surface water assessments in support of regulatory approvals and environmental impact statements, along with strategic water management. Her work has allowed her to work on projects such a water assessment associated with the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro project, the first pumped hydro project to take place in Australia in over 40 years.

Technical director

Marco van Winden

“I returned to AECOM to advance my career in technical excellence and pursue technical leadership on major water projects.”

Marco joined AECOM in Auckland as an Associate Director in 2003 where his passion for advancing technically was nurtured over eight years. After a short stint at a small engineering firm, he returned to AECOM to focus his career on technical excellence and pursue technical leadership of major water projects.

Water resources project manager

Alicia Pajares

“AECOM has taught me that it’s possible to balance engineering and building new infrastructure with being a steward for the environment.”

By participating in public outreach activities in flood-prone communities Alicia develops accurate flood risk models and develops prioritization plans that protect lives and livelihoods against future flooding.

Water infrastructure team leader

Leigh Martin

“I’ve enjoyed roles spanning technical, project management, people management and business development. Now back in Melbourne with two very energetic and active children, I’ve been able to work part-time in my role and spend quality time with them while they are young. ”

Leigh began his career with AECOM in London before returning to his home city of Melbourne to start a family and continue to drive technical excellence as a lead verifier and project manager on several high-profile water infrastructure projects.

Water resources project manager

Joanna Redmond

“Since joining AECOM in 2018, I’ve participated in several professional and technical development programs. The value AECOM places on its people is unlike anything I’ve previously experienced. I really appreciate the investment AECOM makes to support my career advancement.”

Joanna supports communities affected by natural disasters to access funding to repair and replace residential properties and public infrastructure, making them more resilient to future disasters.

Geotechnical engineer & project manager

Sabah Fanaiyan

“There’s nothing better than being on site and providing a hands-on solution to a problem. My career has progressed rapidly to say the least.”

Sabah is making her mark on large infrastructure projects, such as dams, levees and reservoirs. She recently applied her expertise to the BNSF Railroad Bridge Flood Risk Management Project that’s reduced the risk of flooding to residences, business and public infrastructure in Southern California.
