MACKAY (Dec. 1, 2020) — AECOM, the world’s premier infrastructure consulting firm, today announced the Warren Williams Memorial Scholarship in partnership with CQUniversity Australia. The scholarship is available to CQU students studying a Bachelor of Engineering, to support them through their second or third years of study.
Each successful recipient will receive $10,000 over two years to support them through their studies and be offered an undergraduate internship at AECOM’s Rockhampton or Mackay offices. Established in memory of AECOM Central Queensland manager, the late Warren “Wazza” Williams, the scholarship recognises his outstanding contribution to the engineering profession and the Central Queensland region.
“We believe financial insecurity shouldn’t be a barrier to reaching one’s full potential, that’s why we are proud to establish the Warren Williams Memorial scholarship. Developed in partnership with CQU, the scholarship will provide much needed financial support to engineering students. Enabling the recipient to focus on their studies and benefit from work experience as part of our undergraduate program,” said Ben McMaster, AECOM Rockhampton office manager.
“We are delighted to partner with AECOM to create a scholarship that combines financial support with industry experience. It is all part of helping CQU students to achieve their academic and career aspirations, plus in meeting the requirements of the professional accrediting body – Engineers Australia,” said Professor Steve Hall, Dean – Engineering and Technology.
“Warren was a caring and very genuine person, who had a hugely positive influence on everyone who knew him. We are proud to be continuing Warren’s legacy by supporting local engineering students in the Central Queensland region,” said Danny Birkett, AECOM Mackay Office Manager.
