The National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS) started fully operating 2023 and is a catalyst for the overall redevelopment of the Outram Medical Campus master plan. It forms part of one of the earliest phases of the development and will be a prominent gateway building at the new entrance. one of the most technologically advanced healthcare facilities in the world.
Digital innovations
AECOM played a key role in the project, providing design, engineering, and tender documentation services. The project team used a variety of digital technologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), to improve the efficiency and quality of the construction process. We also worked closely with the other firms part of the project team to develop and implement innovative solutions to the challenges of building a complex healthcare facility.
Our engineering services have played a vital role in helping NCCS to obtain the Built Environment Transformation Award and the GreenMark Platinum Certification from the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The project has also received Innovation and Technology Platinum Award for Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and Design Excellence Gold Award for Mechanical & Electrical Engineering at the MOH Holdings Pte Ltd (MOHH) Appreciation Dinner 2023.
World-standard cancer center
The 92,000 square meter facility includes specialty oncology clinics, oncologic imaging, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment centers, operating theaters with intraoperative radiotherapy, brachytherapy rooms, research facilities, GMP labs, critical social support facilities, integrated therapies, offices and staff facilities. NCCS also houses the largest Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) facility in Southeast Asia. The new outpatient medical center has been envisioned to provide a range of medical, educational and research activities within a single institutional building, enabling a multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment.
